![]() I got a new Epson scanner - old one doesnt have Win10 drivers. Got new computers with new operating systems, forgot about VueScan. I used it a lot, more functions than the standard driver. And did I mention superb support and regular, well designed updates? Do yourself a favour, Get Vuescan, you won't look back. In Jan 2003 I bought VueScan for my Epson Perfection 1200. Whenever I've needed the software to carry out some demanding task I find that Vuescan was a step ahead and has it all built in. In the process of benefitting from updated drivers I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Vuescan can stand tall as excellent software in itself, better in many cases than independent software producers. I speak here of my beautiful Konica Minolta Dimage 5400 II. Not only do they offer drivers for obsolete models but also for scanners whose manufacturer is no longer in the scanner business. This would leave me with stranded assets in the form of expensive scanners lacking drivers for modern operating systems. ![]() Sadly manufacturers seldom continue product support very long after a product is superseded. I've always had top shelf scanners as I can't afford to buy cheap tools. (VueScan’s Standard Edition, at 39.95, doesn’t support automatic document feeders or OCR, basic features that ScanScan customers are accustomed to. More so with the advent of digital cameras as I need to access my extensive back catalogue. Hamrick Software provided a review copy of VueScan Professional Edition, which currently lists for 89.95. You cant really choose the scan area, there is no preview before the actual. Scanning, both reflection copy and film has always been a part of my work. Scanning is often the bottleneck through.
